Education Of Children Of Military Families


The San Benito County Board of Education (County Board) recognizes the challenges to the academic success of children of military families caused by the frequent moves or deployments of their parents/guardians in fulfillment of military service.  In accordance with law, the San Benito County Office of Education (SBCOE) shall provide such students with academic resources, services, and opportunities for extracurricular and enrichment activities that are available to all district students.

In making decisions about children of military families, including decisions regarding their enrollment, placement, eligibility for extracurricular activities, or waiver of any graduation requirement, the Superintendent or designee shall be flexible to the extent permitted by law and SBCOE policy.

The Superintendent or designee shall work with parents/guardians and shall collaborate with local, state, and other agencies within and outside the state to facilitate the transition of children of military families into and out of the SBCOE programs.
